Quintal is a joyful mix: publishing house, printing workshop, and bookstore.

Based for five years in Ménilmontant, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, we recently moved our printing workshop to an industrial building owned by the City of Paris, located in the Saint-Blaise neighborhood—a space more suited to our production and our artisanal ambitions.

At the heart of our activities is risography. We print ourselves, publish the artists we love, and distribute our books through our own bookstore. It’s a short, artisanal, independent circuit—and above all, a very lively one.

We love young French creativity, free graphic approaches, and visual experimentation. We try to bring visibility to practices that are often marginalized, and connect them to an audience that is curious and open to new forms of expression. Our books are also a pretext for collaborating with graphic designers, typographers, and studios we admire. We have been fortunate to work with talented figures from the French graphic design scene, such as Atelier Choque Le Goff, Atelier Pierre Pierre, Helmo, Fanette Mellier, and the Graphic Matter podcast series.

Our local roots are essential: as a space open to the neighborhood, we actively participate in the community and cultural life of the 20th arrondissement. Together with Les Artisans de Belleville, we regularly organize events and open houses, promoting exchanges between residents, artists, and artisans in the neighborhood. We want our space to be a place for meeting, creating, and sharing ideas, both within the neighborhood and around the world.

In recent years, our projects have been traveling: we have participated in several international fairs such as Unlimited Edition in Seoul, the Tokyo Art Book Fair, and Offprint London and Paris. These fairs are an opportunity to introduce our publications to an audience that is still unfamiliar with the emerging French graphic scene, to share our expertise and the artists we represent in an international atmosphere, and to meet other independent publishing enthusiasts.
