In their tiny little kingdom, the gnomes are busy dressing up, eating cheese and playing music. But one day, their King, a very serious character who loves coffee (a serious-person drink), dies suddenly. The little gnomes are lost without their leader. Who is going to take care of urgent affairs in the kingdom now? They need to find a new king as soon as possible.

The Kingdom Without a King plunges the reader into a quest. As the gnomes set off to look for a new monarch, they learn how organise themselves without a leader. Afterall, wearing a crown and sitting on a throne is very boring when you could be dressing up, eating cheese and listening to music!

Maria Ramos’ stroke makes this picture book a future classic and the gnomes’ comments throughout the story are hilarious. A true success!
